*Wants to knit a Mabel sweater from the show "Gravity Falls"* O~O
As far as starting with knooking you might have a bit of difficulty. My recommendation is to either pick up a cheap hook or pair of needles and spend a week or so understanding how that technique works. That way you either have a working knowledge of how the slipknots in knitting form the different pattern or are comfortable with the hook.
Personally, I would pick up a pair of needles. Then switching to knooking would feel so much faster and more productive (which would be my main reason for knooking), but I don't think starting straight out with your knook would hinder really you too much.
As far as this tutorial goes, it won't really help much with knooking, since they're very different techniques. The yarn will be doing the same things, but in very different ways. Like I previously stated, the understanding of knit techniques that you can gain from a knit tutorial like mine will help you when you're confused or have a half baked knooking tutorial but that's really the extent.
I know it's a wall of text up there, but feel free to ask again if I'm unclear or didn't address something.
starting is always difficult that way >:\
